Smiling Through the Lens: My Journey Capturing Love in Kent's Hidden Gem with Helen & Chris

Ok so, I've named this one smiling through the lens because it really doesn't matter what I'm photographing or the weather conditions, I'm always smiling.

I love that my photography has already taken me to so many beautiful spots in Kent, so many hidden gems ! When I speak to my couples and we are arranging somewhere to capture some photos, I always allow my couples to choose.

Helen & Chris decided on Shorne woods, this place was just my type of vibe. There was just one problem and that was the rain. I've been very lucky with rain in the past and I always manage to somehow avoid it. My luck wasn't to run out this time around.

When I first meet people for photo's I can understand why people might be a bit nervous, so I always like to try and put them at ease as much as possible, I do this by doing what I like to call warm up shots. In general I like to make my engagment shoots as fun as possible but with these warm up shots, I design these to really get people laughing.

Despite me saying this, I'm always amazed by my couples. They always seem to smash these photos, Helen & Chris were no different. They even pulled off a dip.

Helen, Chris and I all share a love for the outdoors, so I knew that they was going to be up for a bit of climbing. It wasn't long before I had them climbing in the trees. talking of trees, I believe this shoot was just full of me talking about how good looking the trees were.

As a photographer, I'm actually fairly introverted so sometimes I get a bit of nervous energy myself at the begining of the shoot. I find that this only adds to the laughter though.

We finished by taking a walk out onto the highest point of Shorne park which is looks over parts of Kent. This would have been such a lovely spot for sunset photos if in fact there was a sunset which unfortuently for us there wasn't ! Oh and not to mention that we only had 20 minutes left to get back to ours cars before the car park gate was locked. However before we got back to the car I spotted a quiet little area to grab my final photos.

Helen and Chris were so lovely and it was such a pleasure taking these photos for them.

I've met so many lovely couples this year, With only one more engagement shoot left to do this year I need to start thinking about doing a round up blog for 2024 and what 2025 has to bring.

If you are interested in having one of these shoots or you are getting married and are still after a photographer why not give me a message and we can get a conversation going.

Thanks for reading.
