Oh how I've missed writing blogs but they're back and this time better. Oh and on top of that, If you haven't already, check out my new website. Again all new and better !

Ok, finally to begin this blog. Ellen and Tom were after some lovely couple photos. They are both due to go to University very soon and so naturally they wanted some keepsake photos. I love a couple photography session. I done a ton of these last year and it really helped me develop my style. I tend to not to like to give too much direction to my couples but instead opting for a more passive approach, kinda waiting to see what happens. I guess, this is why a lot of my photos involve jumping in a hedge or two.

Ok, so I admit that Ellen is a rather talented dancer and Tom has done a bit of modelling, this made my job as a photographer easy. I think the thing that made this session so fun was we didn't really have a set plan as to where we was going, we just kinda went for a walk around a field close to them. Finding a patch of tall grass was exactly my style, I love the tall grass. I always love how the photos turn out and on top of this it very often makes people laugh when you're climbing through it. On a side note, never wear shorts whilst walking through tall grass, there are many spiky flowers that hide. Tom learnt this the hard way whilst Ellen was only to happy to grab a lift.

I tend to mirror people's emotions, this can be both a positive and a negative and it's one of the many reasons why I absolutely love wedding photography. Couples are always so happy and smiling and that's rather infectious to someone like me. I love seeing people happy. I guess that's why I love doing these photo sessions from time to time and why I offer engagement/pre wedding photo sessions when you book with me. If you've ever had a photo session with me you will know how much randomness that I talk, very often this is just me expelling nervous energy. Yes, I get nervous when doing these photos however I use this energy to focus and grab the photos that I need.

I think it was around this point that the rain started coming down. Now, I've always thought of myself as a bit of a lucky charm for my wedding couples as every wedding I've photographed at have always had a dry day. I always wanted to have a photo session in the rain, I'm not sure why, I guess I've got this picture in my mind of a couple kissing in the rain, oh, how very Hollywood. Anyway, as I say the rain started to come down but the heat of the day was still there and so Ellen started dancing in the middle of the field whilst Tom stood there in the rain.

So whilst Ellen was clearing loving life in the rain, It really did start coming down and I was aware that we did have a bit of a walk back to the car so I thought it was probably a good time to head to a bit of shelter, Ellen led us to a bit of cover under some trees and of course always being the photographer and Ellen always being the dancer it meant that once again Tom was caught in the middle.

Finally, We ended up in probably one of my favourite spots and it was almost designed perfectly for photo's. So we waited under the trees looking at this spot and once we saw an opening in the weather we went for it. I really aim to make the last few photos of the photo session as much fun as possible, I believe this is really important for sealing those memories !

I also done some intentionally blurry photos which I hate myself for but I still kinda dig them at the same time, Its a love hate thing I guess you could call it.
